Ioannis Akrotirianakis

Ioannis studied Mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, between 1986 and 1990. In 1992 he obtained his MSc in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, Institute of Science and Technology, UK. After the completion of his MSc, Ioannis returned to Greece to do his military service (1992-1993). In October 1995, he joined Imperial College, London, UK, and in March 2000 he received his PhD in Computer Science. His PhD research focused on the development of Interior Point Methods for NLP problems and their application to MINLP problems. Between September 1999 and August 2001, he was working as a Research Assistant in the Centre of Process Systems Engineering, Imperial College, where he was involved in the development of algorithms for Large-Scale Optimization. In September 2001, Ioannis joined CASL as a postdoctoral Research Associate. His current research is in the areas of Global Optimization and Parallel Algorithms.
