Dr. Yanjie Wei
Yanjie got his B.S. degree in applied physics from Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, in 2004. Then in Agust 2004 he went to Michigan Tech University (Houghton, MI ) pursuing his PhD degree in physics. There he first worked as a teaching assistant and later worked as a research assistant in the area of protein folding under the guidance of Dr. Ulrich H.E. Hansmann. He focused his research on the study of side-chain and backbone ordering in polypeptides and successfully defended his thesis in 2007. After a short break in Chicago, he joined the CASL group in March 2008. Since then he has been working on membrane protein contact prediction, secondary structure prediction, beta-sheet topology prediction, residue contact prediction for globular proteins, and automation of protein tertiary structure prediction.
